A Darkfield Condenser is an optical light collector for the darkfield microscopy. The Condenser draws the lights on the side of the observed object - so meets no direct light the observation corridor. That allows a significant increase contrast and optimal resolution
The Oil has a similiar refractive index as the coverslip and lenses. This prevents a strong light scattering and creates a better resolution of their samples!
